Open Licensing of the True Game Play Robot
At Blueberry Robotics LLC (formerly RoBOPPics), we believe robotics should be accessible, modifiable, and open to innovation. That’s why we are preparing to offer the True Game Play robot hardware design files through a new open licensing arrangement that empowers builders, researchers, educators, developers, and manufacturers* to create, customize, and evolve the robot platform for their own purposes.
This announcement is intended to gauge interest and share our direction as we finalize testing and prepare the full release of the design files.
What We’re Planning to Offer
Once the True Game Play robot completes its testing phase and the design package is ready, subscribers will gain access to:
Complete hardware design files
CAD, PCB layouts, BOMs, mechanical drawings, and assembly documentation.
Flexible compute and sensor options
Use our reference design for compute and sensing or bring your own compute hardware and your own sensor systems.
Open robot software ecosystem
The robot software stack—including localization, launching, roving, ball tracking, and player tracking—will be open‑source, enabling community contributions and custom implementations.
Interfaces for custom robot software
Developers who write their own robot software will still be able to interface with the official True Game Play app for general operation including voice control.
Continuous updates during subscription
The subscription will provide access to the design files for a year, and during that period, subscribers will receive new versions of the design files as they are released.
This licensing model is designed to support hobbyists, educators, researchers, developers, and manufacturers* who want to build on top of the True Game Play (TGP) platform.
Why Open Licensing?
We want the True Game Play robot to be more than a product. We want it to be a platform. By opening the hardware design files and robot software stack, we aim to:
- Encourage innovation and experimentation
- Support custom compute and custom robot software
- Enable community‑driven improvements
- Expand the ecosystem beyond what a single company can build alone
- Make robotics more accessible and adaptable
- Empower manufacturers* to bring the robot to new markets and applications
This approach allows builders to create their own variations, researchers to extend capabilities, developers to integrate new ideas, and manufacturers/distributors to produce their own versions at scale, while still benefiting from the official app and ecosystem.
What’s Next - We are currently:
- Completing testing of the True Game Play robot
- Finalizing the hardware design package
- Preparing the open‑source robot software repository
- Building the subscription access system for design files
- Documenting the interfaces for custom robot software
- Preparing the True Game Play app for Android, iOS, and both Apple and Windows compatibility
Once everything is ready, we will announce the official launch of the open licensing program.
Stay Informed

* Under the open licensing arrangement:
- Manufacturers may build robots based on the design files
- Manufacturers may sell their versions commercially
- Distributors may carry and resell manufactured units
- Commercial builders may improve the design provided they share these improvements back to evolve and improve the platform
- Attribution and trademark rules will ensure clarity without restricting innovation
- Safety and compliance responsibilities remain with the manufacturer
